What is Silestone Quartzite Made of

January 25, 2022aliacetrefliBlog PostNo comments

Silestone quartzite is a human-made material. Although it comprises almost 94% quartz crystals, it is not a completely natural material since the remaining part consists of resins, pigments, and polymers. Nevertheless, this engineered material is often used in bathrooms and kitchens in countertops, floors, sinks, wall cladding, and shower trays.

You can prefer Silestone quartzite if you want your consumption to be harm-free for the environment. The high level of quartz included in the product’s composition makes it almost a natural material. In addition, polyester holds the crystals together, thus bringing longevity to the material. Unless you want a change, you might use Silestone almost forever, which adds to its environment-friendly characteristics.

What Is Calacatta Quartz

The surface of Silestone is very similar to that of granite and marble. However, it has a more vibrant and brighter color compared to the others since its structure is mainly composed of quartz. The distinguishing feature of Silestone is its shiny appearance. So much so that you won’t need to polish it as frequently as other materials.

Extremely durable material is one of the best choices in the home design industry if durability is the top priority for you. Its non-porous structure prevents it from absorbing liquids and saves you time and money that you would have to spend on regular sealing if you prefer a natural stone surface.

Silestone is stain-resistant for being non-porous. As a result, you don’t have to worry about the stains caused by wine, coffee, oil, and other liquids. In addition, cleaning is much easier on a Silestone surface.

Silestone materials are available in a large array of colors. Therefore, it will be very easy to find a Silestone that matches your living space’s flooring and other furniture in terms of color, pattern, and style. Especially in kitchen decoration, Silestone countertops have become more preferred as they can go with any kitchen design. Even though Silestone has been on the market for more than two decades, its popularity as a countertop surface increased in years.

Silestone quartzite complements any home design giving the material incredible versatility. Therefore, you might see the material as being used on various surfaces: not only countertops and sinks but also floors, walls, fireplace surrounds, vanities, and tabletops. Unfortunately, the material is not proper for outdoor installment since the colors and resin would fade due to the exposure to sunlight.

Silestone prices are often between $50 and $100 per square foot. Depending on quality and thickness, prices may fluctuate. Keep in mind that you should also allocate some budget for installation and transportation. Silestone, as a luxury material, is considered to be expensive. Right, but this has valid reasons:

  1. Silestone has anti-bacterial protection in its very composition.
  2. It is stain-resistant and this saves you from regular sealing.
  3. It is highly durable.
You won’t regret paying a little more initially as it is definitely worth the investment!
